Luna Park, Sydney

During Sydney’s lockdown, I was in the mood to get out in the sunshine and take advantage of the clear blue skies. No matter how tired I was after work on that day, I was keen to get out and take a few photos and videos for my social media channels. Despite the restrictions put in place, I still find joy in experiencing our local surroundings. Millions from all over the world and the country long to experience the highly sought after panoramic views.

Why I love this image of Luna Park, Sydney?

This image encompasses all four things that make up Sydney. Firstly, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House which are obviously the most famous Sydney icons. Secondly, the Luna Park ferris wheel. I find the colours on the ferris wheel create a fun atmosphere to this image which also creates a cheerful look to it as well. I would like to think that it gives people something positive to look at, particularly when some maybe in self isolation. Thirdly, the Sydney ferries are a part of the furniture when it comes to getting around Port Jackson. I like how the colours featured on that ferry stand out against the blue tones in this image. It reminds me of the gold and green shown on the Australian sports gear.

Getting to Luna Park, Sydney

Via public transport

Catch the ferry to Milsons Point wharf and you’ll see the main entrance of Luna Park. Feel free to also take the lovely scenic walk from North Sydney station via the Lavender Bay walk. You can also walk from Milsons Point station, Blues Point or McMahons Point wharf.

By car

Limited street parking on Alfred St south and nearby streets.
