One of Sydney’s best hidden spots overlooking towards Sydney Harbour

Yes, it’s Beulah Street wharf that has phenomenal views of the Sydney Opera House.

Whenever I photograph there, I feel at peace because I can capture the harbour views and have it all to myself.

I feel privileged been able to have access to vantage points like this. I can imagine how chaotic it would be on a day like New Years Eve, especially with the fireworks going on.

Why I love this image of the Sydney Opera House from Beulah Street wharf?

When I look at this image, I feel as if I’m discovering and rediscovering hidden vantage points that aren’t as well-known to the tourist crowds. With the heritage-style block of units in this image, I feel it tells a story. I think that native flora featured here adds a more Australian feel to this image. I think Sydney is one of the few cities in the world where people don’t have to travel too far to see some greenery. I look forward to recapturing this scene with the blues skies and during golden hour.

By public transport

A short walk from Milsons Point station or Milsons Point wharf. Also a nice and short stroll from Kirribilli wharf as well.

By car

Limited street parking available.

• the famous Dr Mary Booth Lookout Reserve along Waruda Street in Kirribilli — a nice little spot with fabulous views of Sydney Harbour;
• Sydney’s Luna Park near Milsons Point wharf;
• the scenic Lavender Bay walk which includes the Lavender Bay wharf — a relaxing stroll that offers panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and city skyline;
• Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden in Clark Park, Lavender Bay;
• Bradfield Park (under the Sydney Harbour Bridge) — a great hangout spot.
