Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden

A hidden garden located in Lavender Bay, Sydney, this beloved hidden oasis overlooks towards the Sydney Harbour foreshore. Created by Wendy Whiteley, wife of Australian artist Brett Whiteley, this garden is located along Lavender St and open to the general public.

Why I love Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden?

A secret gem on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, this is a great place to see the Sydney Harbour views away from the city noise of the Sydney CBD (Central Business District) and be surrounded by nature. Step into this garden and feel like you’re in another world away from the rat race. Not surprisingly, I’ve spotted wedding photographers there at times.

Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden is also a great spot to picnic or read a book and be surrounded by Australian flora and fauna. Plenty of spots in the garden to keep yourself cool during the warmer months.

Why I love this image?

I love how the native Australian bushes, Port Jackson and Sydney’s Luna Park are all featured in this one image. I think it gives this image an Australian local feel. I also love how the different shades of blue are present. I tried using the Australian flora as a silhouette so it tells viewers that I captured this pic from Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden.
